Granola Bars
1/2 cup honey or corn syrup
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup chocolate chips
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups granola cereal
1 cup bran flakes
Variations:
Apple cinnamon bars
omit chocolate chips- add one cup of chopped dried apple and 1 tsp cinnamon
Peanut butter bars
Omit chocolate chips-add one cup of crunchy peanut butter or one cup of smooth peanut butter and 1/4 cup peanuts or 1/4 cup chocolate chips
Fruit OR Nut bars
Omit chocolate chips- add 1 cup dried fruit or your choice of nuts
Combine honey or syrup and Brown sugar in and microwave on high 1-2 min or cook until begins to boil
Combine with rest of ingredients and press into 8X8" pan, cut into bars and refrigerate until set.
(if you double the recipe heat honey mixture just until it begins to boil or microwave 2-3 min.
